2013 Human Relations Award Honorees
Father Joe Pat Breen
Father Breen is pastor for St. Edward parish. He was instrumental in helping to found Our Lady of Guadalupe, the first Hispanic parish in the Nashville diocese and has been outspoken in support of immigrant rights.
Iris Buhl
Her background as an educator led Iris Buhl to become an activist for human rights. Her work includes the Metro Human Relations Commission, the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, and Nashville Cares.
Judge Richard Dinkins
A graduate of Vanderbilt School of Law, Judge Dinkins serves on the Tennessee Court of Appeals in addition to his private practice where he has focused on social justice issues.
Bernard Werthan, Jr.
Founding board member of Nashville Opportunities Industrialization Center, Bernard Werthan’s civic engagement has focused on helping others realize their potential for professional, educational, and personal success.
